Telling Good Foldable Cages from Bad Ones

To judge a foldable cage, hold to three points. First, the high wire and channel. The cage body is high wire plus channel; wire material sets overall strength, wire from large mills is generally more consistent, and reputable makers supply material reports. Much of the load presses on the channel, whose thickness decides whether the rated load is reached. Second, welding. The best material means nothing if welding is poor. Every wire intersection on the panel must be welded — no missed or cold joints; the base must be fully welded for strength. Third, galvanizing appearance. Surface galvanizing must be at least 8 microns thick, bright, spot-free, and smooth to the touch. These are details, but a shop that skimps on details will not be fussy about overall craft either. Cages have uniform specs and fixed capacity for easy stocktaking; the all-steel body is tough, towed by forklift or pallet truck, and typically stacks about four layers — one of the most widely used containers in logistics.
