Back to using heavy-duty pallet racks. Before loading, get the warehouse basics right: whether the floor can carry the racks fully loaded, whether the floor is level, and whether the storage zones are laid out sensibly. Heavy-duty racks are modular and bolted, but they are generally not meant to be moved around. How goods are placed matters as well. Sensible layout keeps the warehouse organized and lifts worker efficiency. Every level can hold palletized goods, but keep whole-pallet loads in one zone and loose items in another; put heavy goods on the lower levels and light goods above, with dust protection on the upper levels. A few design rules: keep the runout ramp moderate, and do not let the total rack depth (rail length) grow too large, otherwise the dead zone at the back gets big and hurts space use. A ramp that is too long also makes sliding goods hard to control, with too much force and more jamming.
